Issue of postage stamps „Commemoration of Cantemiresti dynasty "

In touch with the jubilee of 335 years from the birth of Dimitrie Cantemir and 300 years from the birth of Antioch Cantemir it was issued the postage stamps "Commemoration of Cantemiresti dynasty".

According to the national Programme concerning the celebration in 2008 of Cantemiresti dynasty and in accordance with the 21st Government Decision from 18 January 2008 were issued the commemorative postage stamps "Dimitrie Cantemir" and "Antioch Cantemir".

This issue is composed by two pieces: one postage stamp and a sheet let with a postage stamp.

On the sheet let with nominal value 3 L is represented Dimitrie Cantemir, the hospodar of Moldova (1693 and 1710-1711), learned man, ethnographer, geographer, philosopher, historic, linguist, musicologist, writer and politician.

On the postage stamp with nominal value 1,20 L is represented Antioch Cantemir, writer and diplomat, son of hospodar Dimitrie Cantemir

The design of the postage stamps was elaborated by the painter Alexei Colibneac. 

The printing of this issue constitutes 12 000 sheet lets with Dimitrie Cantemir on them and 166800 postage stamps with Antioch Cantemir on them.

This issue will be put into circulation on 27 October 2008 within postal office MD-2012 from Chisinau.
